The Rock Pool and You: A Guide to Aquatic Petpets by noileh
--------
So, you want to adopt an Aquatic Petpet? Well, you're in luck! We've ever so carefully curated the perfect guide to the top 30 Aquatic friends who are available for adoption today from the Rock Pool. Not sure where to start? No worries – we've divided our recommendations into handy categories such as "Pointy Bois" and "Friends with Fun Shapes," and we’ve provided a solid fluid review for each. From Baby Blus to Waleins and everything in between, this is The Rock Pool and You. Author's note: This is the official guide! Any other guide is just rubbish. Slippery Lil Fellas Now, these lil fellas might look super cute, but they are so, so easy to lose. These are probably best for Neopets with opposable thumbs, to be able to firmly grasp them as they try to wriggle away. If your Neopet tends to be a bit forgetful or isn't the fastest Pet around, these lil guys might not be the wisest choice. They're slippery, they're fast, and you do NOT want to be swimming around the neighborhood trying to catch them. Plus, aside from our lil Baby Blu, none of them have ears to listen to your pleas for them to return home. Also, the Frillabon and the Primella probably shouldn't be touched with bare hands unless your Neopet’s skin is resistant to electricity… Need other options? Check out the Tanizard and Ghoti. Fun fact! Ghoti is actually pronounced "fish." In Your Feels Is your Neopet a little more on the emotional side? Perhaps they have some very big feelings and difficulty expressing them? An "In Your Feels" Petpet might be right for them! These Petpets can be used to express your Neopet’s emotions without saying a word. Feeling Smiley? Maybe Frowny? Perhaps a little grumpy? (Honestly, the Ghostkerchief is really a whole mood). Try out Bubbles for that unsure Pet who lacks confidence and loves to say "err…I dunno guys…" Or, for the Pet who expresses nothing at all, try a Meturf to encapsulate a true "no thoughts, just vibes" persona. No matter what you’re feeling, any of these companions are sure to help you get those emotions across. Friends with Fun Shapes Is your Pet an artist? Perhaps a Cubett would make a fine pairing for its foray into Neocubism...get it?? No? Okay, well, perhaps a Bowla for the Pet who likes to feel fancy or loves to dress up. This could be especially fun for Pets without hair as a simple way to accessorize. If your Pet is a Team Dacardia fan, consider a Crabby. Sure, it's no Crabby-bot, but those rust underwater. We're talking aquatic friends here, not land friends. This is the aquatic version, we promise. Really? None of these sound perfect? Well, what about Flippy? You could probably even take him for a realllllly slow ride somewhere or perhaps use his shell for a slide! Plus he's, like, really cute. Or maybe an Orp, whose mouth looks like a deflating balloon, which probably explains why they're not very bright. Because…they're airheads. Get it? It does, however, explain why they're reportedly very bouncy. Fish are Friends, not Food! You may be thinking, didn't we just discuss Ghoti? Yes, but this section is about fish; keep up. So before you say it – yeah, maybe Dartail and Delfin aren't exactly fish, but just let us have our categories, okay? They're close enough. Goldy and Gulper are 100% fish: this we can guarantee. They are excellent aquatic companions and will surely appreciate having your Pet as a friend because Maraqua can be a big, scary place! Just look at them; they're clearly apprehensive about going home with anyone other than you and your Pet. Now, the Marafin...he's really just happy to be included. And how could you resist that lil face? Pointy Bois My friend, my friend, did we not recommend Ghoti multiple times already? Yes, but this is a Pfish; why do we have to keep explaining the subtle nuances in aquatic linguistics? Pay attention. Aquatics aren't for the weak. If you’ve never owned a Petpet before, Kelpflake could be right up your alley, as it’s low maintenance and clearly just here for vibes. Spirkle is a great choice of companion as long as your Pet isn’t a troublemaker. Just look at the mischievous spirkle sparkle in its eye. Maybe your Pet wants a brother, but you're out of Pet slots? Try a Sharky! It screams "we have Jetsam at home!" Or maybe a Jawshell – spiky, loveable, and able to burp on command! One of a Kind - Just Like You! Okay, if absolutely none of the options presented so far sound like they're just right for you, perhaps you need a “one of a kind” Petpet. And quite frankly, if none of these sound good either, maybe the Rock Pool isn't for you. This is all we have left. First, might we interest you in a Lutra? They even come with a mini golden rock, truly embodying the Rock Pool vibes. Or if you're secretly a Team Kreludor fan forced to live an aquatic lifestyle, maybe take home a Peedleedoo. They'll never know your secret. A Slugawoo could be a nice token of appreciation for the Pet who helped hold you together as you screamed at Raiders of Maraqua for 20 hours straight until you got an avatar. It's a nice, lovely reminder of the Slug Monster, who is actually a very helpful in-game character. Check out the Walein, whom you might already recognize from screaming at Faerie Fragments, although that's probably been for a tad more than 20 hours. Does that ever end? We're not sure. But we do know a friendly Walein can make it more tolerable! And finally, up for your consideration is King Roo Baby Blu. Is it unique? Is it an imposter? Is he the leader of the free world? That’s for you to decide. In Conclusion Whether you and your Pet are looking for a tiny friend, a way to express your emotions, an amusing silhouette, a non-edible companion, a buddy who’s sharp as a tack or one who’s truly as rare as you, the Rock Pool has exactly what you’re looking for. Just keep swimming looking!
